Nominator's project description
| Professor Snieder is a visionary wave physicist with internationally recognized contributions in fields ranging from acoustics to seismic exploration and seismology. His seminal work on seismic interferometry paved the way for a new branch of exciting techniques and applications that opened up the diffuse part of the elastic wave field for systematic analysis. These new techniques have a wide range of applications, for example material testing, high precision earthquake location, and Earth structure imaging. In Germany, Professor Snieder will foster the implementation of the new theoretical developments in seismological and engineering applications. |
